07-20-05: Wow, I really let this project stagnate. I do intend to continue with it, I just got caught up in a lot of other things and GMonsters just fell behind. That's the trouble with being the only coder for a project I suppose. Incidentally, the project could use some active members if anyone is interested. :)
02-07-03: Oh well, not much has happened lately, but I'm getting around to it, I swear! :) Actually between my job, my fiance, and college I've been short on time, but I'm still trying. So no, GMonsters is *not* a dead project! :)
11-05-02: I know things have been slow, but Real Life(tm) has gotten in the way lately :) I'm currently working on a GTK+ 2.0 version of the client, which I may check into CVS soon, though I'm trying to wait until it's at least usable. Notably the GTK+ 2.0 client is a total rewrite due to the fact that I took a seriously idiotic approach to writing the original one :)
03-29-02: Well, not much news today. Still working on the wager code at the moment. So... Yeah :)
03-13-02: Again with the updates! :) Well, the wager functionality is implemented mostly, and some bugs have gone squish. Anywho, I haven't had a lot of time, and I'm still looking for help. Artists, programmers, species designers, and maybe someone who knows PHP to help me out with this crappy website. :)
11-08-01: Whew, it's been WAY too long since I've updated this page :) Hopefully a new release will be coming soon, but things have been slow due to personal matters. That's it for now.
07-20-01: The debian packages have been updated to fix some of the "issues" they were having :) Most importantly, they're a step closer to be Debian policy-compliant, and they actually specify their dependancies :) So any Debian users out there, give them the usual workout.
06-24-01: GMonsters 0.5.1 "Death to the bugs" is out. :)
06-22-01: GMonsters 0.5.0 is out now! This is the first release of the new client server architecture, and that means network play is fully operational! You can chat with other players, challenge them to matches, find wild monsters to capture, and battle random trainers. So check it out at the download page :)
06-18-01: GMonsters 0.5.0 should be out in a week or so. I know it's been over a month since I last added a news item, but I have an excuse :) I've been moving the game over to a client-server architecture and adding many new features. If you feel daring, check out "client" and "server" from the GMonsters CVS to see what I've been up to. Note that this is almost a complete rewrite of the game so some things don't work the same way they used to. I'll get a full feature list up here sometime soon.
05-11-01: GMonsters 0.4.0 is out now! It has undergone a complete restructuring (as per the 04-06-01 news item) and should be pretty nice :)
04-10-01: There is code in CVS to allow the game to work on big endian machines. Also, and don't take this for gospel, it's just an optimistic guesstimate, GMonsters 0.4.0 should be out in about a week or so if all goes well. (But how often does that happen)
04-06-01: The codebase has been completely altered, there is no longer a library and the game is one binary. Also, I actually filled out the README and started the GNOME Help files for it :) It has also been adapted for internationalization, now I just need translators :) My fiance is going to translate it to Spanish, but I still need translators for everything else. (Well, except English :))
02-28-01: GMonsters 0.3.0 is out! Debian packages have been updated, and as always the source is available at the download page.
12-17-00: Debian packages are now available. Check out the download page for details on what to add to your apt sources.
12-17-00: GMonsters 0.2.0 has been released. You can find it in the usual places :)
11-14-00: Ok, I know it's been a while, but work is really happening :) You may see a new release by next weekend. Stay tuned, same bat time, same bat channel! :)
9-21-00: Ok, the CVS version is rocking :) Items are semi-functional, network support is still crap :(, and it seems pretty bugless for CVS, so expect a new version in a few weeks or so. I'll try to be frequent with releases until 1.0.0 now :)
9-18-00: The web page has been redesigned A LOT :) Also, Gmonsters 0.1.0 was just released.
